I had a nice and long stay in Navas del Selpillar where I rented a small appartment to survive this wintertime. The months to come would hardly be about cycling.
Navas del Selpillar, along the Via Verde del Aceite 🖱️ (the 125kms Green cycleway named after the olive-oil) and inbetween Cordoba and Malaga.
Where I had these very ❣️ cute neighbours
that were carefully watched by there friends the cats 😁
and by there friends 😁 from above.
until nightfall.
An impression of Navas del Selpillar.
I was welcomed by 👌 oranges all over town every day. These are wild oranges and they taste bitter, so are not to eat, but they do show so nice ! And by the way, oranges ripe until in 📆 februari, so those ment to consume are stored in warehouses quite a long time.
I also found some mushrooms, which was a very long time ago. Ofcourse it was since mushrooms need moisture and there hardly is any. But after it had finally rained few hours they appeared, although very few.

The beautiful graffitiwall in the south of town. It is about 50mts long (!) and painted by several locals.
The second watertap I saw along the Via Verde del Aceite. Having water is actually the main problem along this track. And the towns you pass look to be quite close but are not in a vertical way of speaking.

Mid februari Nature woke up again. And so did I ...
There was still enough water running at the townsquare, simply (?) because this water is recirculated.
But (as usual) in march Rain arrived, and in it's last week it rained almost 24/7 for a whole week. Januari and februari had made me enthousiastic since temperatures were already up to 24C and more. But mid march they dropped and I decided to stay here another month, which turned out to be a very wise decision. Then one day water came even through the roof ...
Then, starting at the beginning of april, Dry arrived, with temperatures already up to 24C once again. The embalses (waterreservoires) in Andalusia were filled up from a critical 12% to some 33% within that one week. I don't know whether that new level is a regular (historical) level to start a new year with, but I do know Dry will take over from now on until probably next year's spring. In 2022 and 2023 I had no rain all year from early june on, except for an hour (so just once). Point is that water in embalses is Only available to humans, not to Nature ...
The next blog is about some local activities.
